38But the uniqueness of Shimane University is in the opportunities it gives to experience Japanese culture. Participating in a tea cere-mony, trying on a kimono, planting rice, going on university trips to temples and traditional gardens, and watching fireflies are only some of the experiences Shimane University offers. Moreover, there are many opportunities to meet with Japanese people both inside and outside of class. What I really like about Matsue is that people here are very friendly and want to meet with students from abroad. I enjoyed many events with Japanese people, like visiting schools and introducing my culture, but from all those projects, the biggest one was acting in a movie. That’s right. Shimane University exchange students have an opportunity to cooperate with Matsue residents and create a movie, which for sure was one of my most memorable experiences. So, if you are interested in not only learning specialist subjects, but also in Japanese culture and cultural exchange with Japanese people, Shimane University is the right place for you! The fresh air I breathed in from Japan Sea gave me a relaxed feeling during the hot summer. Matsue is an excellent beautifully mountainous area and a quite calm city. People are very kind, friendly, and helpful. Sometimes I received very family-like heart warming hospitality from local people. Finally, this exchange program has helped me make my dream to get a higher education in Japan come ture.
