It consists of seven departments: physics and materials science, chemistry, earth science, mathematics, information systems design and data science, mechanical, elec-trical and electronic engineering and architectural design. Approximately 400 undergraduate students enroll each school year. The faculty aims at providing students with the fundamental sense and application capability required to cope with the advanced and ever-changing science and technology. After gradua-tion, many students enter higher graduate courses. Graduates also find employment in a wide variety of companies and government agencies. The Department of Physics and Materials Science invites prospective students with vigorous academic interests in theoretical physics, applied physics, ma-terials science, or in the interrelations of these disciplines. Lectures on modern physics and materi-als science subfields at fundamental to advanced levels are carefully organized within our curriculum. Our fields of research are diverse: superconductor, semiconductor, functional materials, structural ma-terials, strongly correlated electronic systems, and quantum, computational, and mathematical phys-ics. Individual supervision by our faculty comprised of twenty-four active researchers leads to a bache-lor’s degree upon completion of the thesis.●Fundamental Physics ●Materials Engineering●Electronic Device Engineering Bilingual Education CourseThis course is available for all the departments of the faculty and accepts international students. Since intensive courses for studying Japanese are placed in the first and second years, the students can soon participate in courses taught in Japanese.https://www.riko.shimane-u.ac.jp/eng/bilingual.htmlInterdisciplinary Faculty ofDepartment of Physics and Materials ScienceScience and Engineering
