A Hands-on Korean Cooking Experience

公開日 2019/06/27

On Sunday, the 6th of June, the International Cultural Information A class (Korean Language) held a cooking course at the Matsue International Community Center. The 24 participants, including students and faculty, were separated into 5 groups.

During this cooking course, the participants prepared 6 different well known Korean foods; Dak-galbi, Gimbap, Buchimgae, Tteok-bokki, Bulgogi, and Tteok.

After studying about how these foods were made in their International Cultural Information A course, the participants were able to work together and enjoy the cooking process. It was evident by the participants’ smiling faces that they were proud and surprised by what they were able to accomplish.

Afterwards, while surrounded by the food they made, the students had a great time talking about their class studies, K-pop, among other topics with students from other departments.

It can be expected that from this sort of active, experiential learning that students, together with their studies, are able to understand cultural differences and develop a better understanding of diversity.
