On August 2nd, (Friday) the Taiwanese National Ilan University, which signed an MoU and a Student Exchange Agreement in June, paid a courtesy visit to President Hattori. This group, consisting of 7 participants, was led by Professor Sho and Professor Chen of the National Ilan University.

During this visit, with the cooperation of Professor Chen of National Ilan University and Professor Lieske from the CFLE, the summer overseas training program focused on Global education using English as a shared language. Although the visit was short, from July 30th ? August 4th, all participants from both universities actively participated both inside and outside the classroom. Students from both universities were able to challenge themselves and brush-up their English skills.

During the courtesy visit presentation, President Hattori gave the opening address which was followed by words of gratitude from Professor Chen. Afterwards, President Hattori talked with the participants from the National Ilan University and asked them about their impressions and experiences during their time in Shimane. The students responded using excellent English and talked about their experiences during their stay and how much they enjoyed the events, including a “Takoyaki Party” with Japanese students at Shimane University.

In December, Students from Shimane University are planning on visiting National Ilan University further deepening the relationships between these two universities.
