公開日 2019/12/23

On November 27th, the second Love. Local. Shimane. Event was held from 6:45pm and lasted until just after 8:00pm. This year, the presenters traveled to both sides of Shimane to conduct their interviews for the event. One student spoke about “sekishu gawara”, a traditional roof tile that is made by a business in Hamada. Other students interviewed local businesses on the eastern side of Shimane. One student presented on a local tea shop in Matsue. This shop sells a variety of products including many kinds of herbal teas. Another student was an international student studying from France. She interviewed the owner of a local pastry shop in Matsue. She talked about how she was surprised to find French desserts that tasted similar to what she has experienced in France.

In small groups of 5-6 members each, the audience was given time to talk about what they learned from each presentation. Students both from Shimane as well as outside Shimane commented about the different businesses. Included in the audience were a number of international students as well. Whether Japanese or international, many students stated that they were able to learn new things about Shimane and were interested in visiting the businesses presented.

Although the total number of participants was smaller than last year, around 40 students, the event was very successful and all students, both presenting and listening, seemed to have a great evening.
