Students, Faculty and Staff Members:

In order to contribute to preventing the further spread of COVID-19, on June 19, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has launched an application called COCOA (COVID-19 Contact Confirming Application).

The app alerts users when they may have been in close proximity to someone infected with the coronavirus and instantly notifies the possibility of infection. In this way, users will be able to quickly receive testing and support services offered by public health centers, and to refrain from outings, which contribute to the prevention of infection spread.

The app does not collect any personal information or information in relation between a positive case and those who came into contact with the case (those who have been notified by the app of the possibility of contact with the positive case), so your privacy is well protected.

The app needs to be widely used to be truly effective as it requires the accumulation of a certain amount of contact data. Thus, Shimane University members are encouraged to download and utilize it.
