Response to the Bomb Threat Notice Targeting Shimane University

公開日 2020/07/10

A post was found on the Internet stating that the main buildings of Shimane University will be bombed at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 10, and passengers and people around the bus stops close to campus will be attacked with knives. We immediately notified the police and took precautions to look for suspicious individuals and items, in and on our premises in cooperation with the police. Fortunately, there was no explosion at the time of the notice and no one was hurt.

In order to prioritize the safety of our students and pupils, faculty and staff members and our neighbor community, the university restricted the entry to Matsue and Izumo campus, and the attached kindergarten and compulsory education school from noon on Thursday, July 9. Normal operations resumed after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10.

Shimane University will continue to remain on alert, and consider this act a forced obstruction to our business. We will take necessary measures in cooperation with the police.

In case you find a suspicious item or person on campus, please contact the university immediately.
